The Chérie is descended from the Roseval. The potato is elongated, with very shallow eyes, a pink skin and yellow flesh. The Chérie is a waxy variety.

Butter soft waxy potatoes. Often slightly sweeter.

You can enjoy endless variety with these potatoes. Slice them to make cheerfully coloured potato sections sprinkled with a little olive oil, sea salt and rosemary. Or boil them in salt water until the bottom of the pan is dry. This will leave a thin layer of salt on the skin – a surprising flavour combination!

When to serve
Chérie potatoes are good if they have a firm, attractive clear red skin. They are less good if they are limp, have a green discolouration, shoots, damage, an acrid smell or bruising.
